1% for the Planet Engages BBMG for Brand Strategy

NEW YORK (Aug. 8, 2012) – In advance of its 10th anniversary, 1% for the Planet—a global environmental non-profit founded by Patagonia’s Yvon Chouinard—has engaged BBMG to help position the brand for long-term success and sustainable impact.

1% for the Planet will leverage BBMG’s expertise in cause branding and sustainability to explore and evaluate a number of growth strategies as the organization broadens its value proposition for both member companies and consumers.

With its stated mission to “Keep Earth in Business,” 1% for the Planet is a growing movement of companies—now more than 1,400 businesses in 48 countries—that donates one percent of sales to environmental nonprofits working on a range of issues, from climate and water conservation to biodiversity and land protection. Since its inception in 2002, 1% for the Planet has distributed nearly $100MM across some 3,000 qualified NGOs, becoming one of the largest funders of environmental work.
